I don't think you can delete a base calendar event. You can subscribe to a different calendar.

Could you please suggest an app? I have been trying to sort through them and it is difficult to ascertain whether a given app will do this task. Thanks
Here is a website that offers many, many subscription calendars:
Here are the instructions for using calendar subscriptions:

There was a perfectly good subscription calendar called US holidays that was Federal holidays. It has been replaced by something else entirely. The solution is for Apple to restore the calendar rather than be defensive.

Easter is not a "Federal" Holiday. Neither is Good Friday. No one is being defensive. We are just indicating that your opinion about what Apple does with the calendar they call US Holidays (no reference to Federal) is irrelevant here. This is a user to user technical support forum. The solution has been provided countless times throughout this thread (i.e., turn off Apple's US Holidays calendar, and find one that is acceptable to you and use that instead). Beyond that, there is nothing more to discuss. If you want to send your opinion to Apple then you would do so here: Apple - Feedback.

See my post directly above yours. There is only one solution and that is to turn off the Apple US Holidays calendar, and get another one that better suits your purposes. You can find many in the iOS App Store on your device. We don't need suggestions here about what to put into the Apple US Holidays calendar because we are just users like you. Tell Apple: Apple - Feedback

No, Easter is a holiday. It is not a Federal holiday. Here are the actual Federal Holidays. And please note, neither Easter nor Christmas are Federal holidays either:
You've made it abundantly clear you don't like the Apple Subscription calendar. Please don't make any assumption that you speak for me. I actually like the new subscription calendar. I appreciate having the knowledge to wish my many friends of different faiths a happy holiday. But you have the ability to change the subscription calendar to one you like better. And you've been provided the link to provide your feedback to Apple directly. There is really no reason for you to continue this discussion.

Apple had originally removed all "religious" holidays but Christians got all worked up that Easter was removed. So Apple decided that if Christians get to see their holidays then Hindus, Muslims, Jews, etc. would also get to see their holidays represented as well.
I was wondering exactly the same thing -- I thought it was (yet another) iOS/MacOS bug...
I happened to Google search it and realized it was a holiday.
Thanks for everyone's input -- I'm glad I wasn't the only one wondering about this 😇😎👍
You won't ever be able to edit/delete subscription calendars, they are created according to an international standard. You can get an app that will place the various holidays and then let you edit them, you can enter only the ones you want yourself, or you can do like anypats suggested.

Hopefully Apple will fix the calendar to allow us to edit/ delete everything, including holidays, in the future.
The nature of subscribed calendars is they can't be user modified. So Apple can't provide edit or delete options. That's exactly HOW subscribed calendars work. If you want a calendar you can edit, you can download one to your liking from the App Store, which would not be a subscribed calendar.

That is not a trusted website as their certificate is invalid.
Then search for another one. There are lots.
I don't get that message, by the way, from my corporate, highly locked down computer.

“Then search for another one” - wow, thanks for taking the time for that sage advice, oh level 9!
Wow! Do you really expect people to search for you? We're not paid employees of Apple. We're volunteers who help people with their problems. We provide information and they can search for themselves.

Seems a bit rude to be so snarky to someone who tried to help by providing what you asked. This is a user to user technical support forum. Everyone here is a volunteer. We are not here to do your research for you. You have the same access to the same information that we do. You need to take the time to find out what app is best for your requirements. Google is your friend.

There was a perfectly good subscription calendar called US holidays that was Federal holidays. It has been replaced by something else entirely. The solution is for Apple to restore the calendar rather than be defensive.

Easter is most certainly a federal holiday. It just happens to be on Sunday so you never realized it.
Sorry, NOT.... No religious holidays are Federal Holidays. We have what is called the separation of Church & State in the US, so holidays for Federal employees would not include religious holidays.
