Numbers came with my 2014 MacBook Pro. I want the latest version, but when I go to the app store the only option I see is to upgrade, and when I try to do that, I get the message that I never purchased it so I can't upgrade. There is no "Get" option. How do I buy it??

The latest version of Numbers available for downoad at the App Store requires macOS 10.12 or later. If your Mac is running El Capitan 10.11.2 as your profile indicates, you would need to upgrade to the latest macOS available which is High Sierra v10.13 in order to install Numbers.

I have upgraded to Sierra already. The solution was to put the old Numbers app in the trash. Then Apple Store could not see that I had a copy of Numbers, and the Update Button became a Get Button. I was able to download the upgrade at no charge.
Good to know. I actually had an Apple Store guy tell me that since I got it for free initially, this was probably the reason I was not able to use the Upgrade button and would need to purchase it. He was incorrect... I didn't realize I simply had to delete the app before I tried to Get the new app.

It was a Numbers upgrade, which is his case is free.
