Since the latest version of Mac Photo was downloaded, I have difficulty maker corrections with RETOUCH. I can make about 5 and then it stops working and I have to shut down and try again and again. I don't get all my corrections made and have to switch to other photo programs. What's up? Thanks

You state that you have Sierra 10.12.5 - that is not the latest version, High Sierra 10.13.3 is the latest version
There are issues with retouch for some people and some have reported that 10.13.3 resolved them and others report that it did not and hey will have to wait for anothr update
Use of Photos is totally optional and you most certainly are free to switch to any program you choose - that is your choice and no one here cares a bit what software you choose to use
