Safari Web Inspector's Command-S corrupts the file

When I edit the html document or the css or js files in Web Inspector, I try to save the changes to the respective file. But the files get corrupted by extra material. For example, the first characters in the saved html file look like this:

bplist00Ñ _ WebMainResourceÔ ^WebResourceURL_ WebResourceFrameName_ WebResourceData_ WebResourceMIMEType_ !http://localhost:8080/

The inability to save the changes burdens me with having to jump to my text editor and type in each to the file manually. Any ideas of why the Command-S command is messing things up?
