Apple TV Third Party Apps

I recently set up my Apple TV and downloaded a third party app to stream live tv. It asked for a cable provider, which I have. I went through the steps of getting my provider on there, however, it only asked that I enter a access code to allow apple tv to use it. It did not ask for my network provider's username or password. How do I know that it is in fact using my account?
