Should I lock my lost iPad remotely

I left my iPad on a plane. Stupid i know. They are trying to find it but no luck so far. If I lock it from the find my iPhone app is it easy to then undo that if I get it back? I was told it would say stolen iPad on the actual iPad. Thanks for any help.
