how can i dealete my mail data out of icloud?

i'm trying to delate my mail data out of itunes to free up space but whatever i do it still stay. i have complatly delated all the mail in the mail app and delated the mail app and it's data off my iphone. but te data is still in the cloud.

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 11.2.6
