My MacBook Pro has had hard drive issues for awhile. I have researched a few SSD options, but I wasnt sure how to set up the new SSD before installing it. Also, I wanted to bootcamp the new SSD. Any advice on making sure the SSD is set up correctly?
Setting up an SSD isn't really that much different than a hard drive. You can clone or do a clean install. It really depends on how you want to do it. Is having an exact environment important to you?
I have backed up everything important from my original hard drive to an external, I was hoping to do a clean install and start everything new. I didn’t want to clone the drive
You should be able to do a clean install and then copy over whatever you need. You would probably want to use Internet Recovery.
Make sure you format the SSD before installing it (put it in an external USB enclosure) - makes things much easier.
