Speak Screen not working?

I am having the same problem with speak screen skipping paragraphs. I saw questions regarding this issue but no replies. It happens in the Kindle and Overdrive apps on my iPhone. This just started after the last two updates. In addition to skipping paragraphs, it sometimes slows down so much that it almost sound like another language. This must be very difficult for the visually impaired. Any idea when this will be fixed?
