Ibooks still crashing

I see that this problem dates back to October 2017 and am a little curious as to why this hasn't been fixed. It's highly inconvenient as I am a student and my textbooks are on my iPad pro on ibooks and I am unable to use them. Has anyone found a fix for this?! Basically it opens up to the front cover of one of the books and crashes about 3 seconds after. I can fix it by deleting and redownloading the app, but then as soon as I close out of it and attempt to open it again I run into the same problem. I cannot be constantly deleting and downloading an app to access my books. This is super annoying.
