Question: Unable to update Garage band

I have had my Mac a while but never used Garage Band. Now I've just started to use it but when I try and update it I'm told it's not available as the version was bought by another user or the item was cancelled. The version I have is the version tthat came with my Mac when I first bought it. Is there any way I can renew my access?

This happened to me when I bought my current computer. Call Apple Support and explain it is a new computer and some of the bundled software can't be updated because the App Store shows you didn't download it. I ended up talking to level 2 support and they got redemption codes that allowed me to download a copy using my Apple ID.
