Upload videos to MacBook Photos

Hello,
I've always used MacBook's Photos to upload my new videos from my Sony camcorder (via USB).
Last time I tried to do so, I got only the still photos, not the video files. These videos can be watched either on the camcorder or in QT player, but they won't show on Photos. The same result when I plug in the SD card directly to the MacBook. How do I fix this?
