time capsule

Hi,

Just bought a time capsule yesterday 2TB:

Can anyone advise me if you can connect your time capsule directly to your iMac desktop? If so what are the pros and cons? Can this help to quicken up your wireless network?

Thanking you,

Hodderjte

The Time Capsule connects to your modem or modem/router using a permanent, wired Ethernet cable connection, just as the Time Capsule Setup Guide illustrates.

Once that is done, then your iMac can connect to the Time Capsule using a wired Ethernet cable connection.....or.....using the wireless signal that the Time Capsule provides.

our modem is downstairs and the iMac is upstairs we have a Ethernet cable that we can connect the time capsule to up stairs which is connected to the modem downstairs, is this possible?

Yes, since you say that...."we have a Ethernet cable that we can connect the time capsule to up stairs"....and Ethernet cabling can be run for up to 328 feet or 100 meters with no signal loss......you would connect the Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule and then connect the iMac to the Time Capsule using either a wireless or a wired Ethernet cable connection.
