Q: Extremely slow Remote Desktop via VNC

HI I am able to connect via Real VNC. However is it extremly slow. It is not a bandwith issue. I am connected locally and its slow slow. I am using REAL vnc on my pc.

What are you using for remote desktop and whats FAST!

IMAC 17, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I use Share My Desktop on the server side and Chicken of the VNC on the client side. I use this to connect 2 Macs that are 1200 miles apart. The speed isn't great but it is usable and certainly better than doing support merely by phone conversation.

when you saw speed isnt great, do you see the window paint?

Also SMD just appears to start the VNC server services, no? It still is just OSX nc server to a VNC client, correct?

Can anyone connect at 256 colors from a PC? When i try this i get a message parameter error.

This slow VNC is killing me.

I installed Vine server aka OSxvnc , and my refresh speed doubled.
