I updated my appleid, but i keep being asked to update the password on my old id when i log onto my MAC, how can i update this?

on my MacBook Pro is asking for me to update Apple ID settings, I tried to put in my password. After that its asking my iCloud password. I thought my Apple ID is the same password as iCloud. My Macbook pro is asking for me to update my Apple ID setting, I put my password in. Then after that its asking for my iCloud info, I thought my password is the same with my Apple ID.

Apple ID password on MacBook Air running up to date software Today I had to change my Apple ID password 4 times, I am really wondering what is going on. I have a few apple products so it takes a while to go through this process. How do I make sure this problem stops. For years I had the same password now it has become a challenge to keep it for one hour. No one uses my MacBook or my iPad.
