I bought an LG 34UM61 Ultrawide monitor from Costco. The only inputs are HDMI. Threads from other models say that, to get a satisfactory picture from this monitor, I need to use the DisplayPort/ Thunderbolt port on my Mac Mini. Is there a DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter, and will it work with this monitor? Thanks!
I got one, and I get a wonderfully clear picture - on about 5/6 of the screen. From other threads, I got the sense that the Mac sees everything at the HDMI port as a TV, but sees the Thunderbolt connection as a monitor. The LG is asking to set the computer to 2560 by 1080, but that option doesn't exist on the Mac. What am I missing?
Open the Displays Preference, hold the Alt (Option) key and click the Scaled button.
