Why doesn't screen go bright when plugged back in?

When I unplug my Macbook, the screen dims. When I plug it back in, the screen remains dim. I always have to manually adjust the brightness. Is there a way to make it adjust automatically?

Screen is dim every time I switch on my Macbook Air on, but Auto-brightness is off I've seen several similar posts but not exactly the same as my issue. Every single time I switch my Macbook Air on, the screen is really dim, and I have to go into settings and adjust it back up to almost full brightness (I can't see well if the screen is dim). I have the 'Auto-brightness' setting OFF. It's always off, but still the brightness seems to 're-set' itself every time I switch on. It's nothing to do with low battery or whether the device is plugged in or not. Is there another setting I've missed somewhere? If not this is going to be really annoying - it's also pretty discriminatory towards those with sight impairments.

Screens comes back slightly dimmed when unlocking Hi there,My new MacBook Pro does something I have not ever see across the Macs I have owned in the past.For example, I set the display to full brightness. I then go away from the computer either locking it myself or let it lock after the time out.When I come back and unlock the computer the screen has automatically adjusted the brightness below the full setting. Annoyingly I have to readjust the brightness to full again.Any way to turn this "feature"off?Thanks

macbook air brightness recently my MacBook air goes completely dark when the brightness goes below full. this also means i can not charge it while still on it because when you do that it automatically dims the screen and you cannot brighten it. i am a bit stumped on what i should do and would love some help
