B/W Negatives Sizes to Import

I have some 40yo b/w negatives that I am scanning on a Hi Res Epson scanner to export to Final X Pro X. What is the ideal size and DPI to use with Epson before the export to FCP10?

What’s the output resolution of your project? Obviously it’s better to use horizontal images as that’s the aspect ratio of video. The larger you make the images the more leeway you have in adjusting the framing in the application. On the other hand large images require powerful systems with lots of VRAM. If you don’t need to move in the inages or reframe them they need to be no larger than the project resolution. Try to keep them down to twice the output resolution if you can. The more images you put in the project the more resources it will require.
