Finder window sort order

Since migrating to High Sierra (from Mavericks) I'm finding that a new Finder window (List view) defaults to *inverse* alpha order by Name. This also appears to be used when I open a migrated window the first time. Is there a way to set the default so that alpha order by Name is used?

FWIW, I've never known the Finder to sort in "inverse" by default but, try copying and pasting this line into Finder > Go Menu > Go to Folder…

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

press Return and delete the "com.apple.finder.plist" file. Restart. It will change any other Finder settings you have set.

I understand that. Over the past week I've probably clicked that 1,000+ times. I want to NOT have to do that over and over and over again.

For the existing folders (under Mavericks) they were in proper alpha order by Name before the migration. Now, on the first time a folder is opened up under HS the order is inverse alpha. The first 3 dozen times I figured I was simply mis-remembering things but at this point it seems to be a pattern.

Ditto for a new Finder window.

I'm looking for the preference that says to NOT use "inverse"....
