I lost a dvd in my iMac disc slot - is there any way to get it out? Disc slot unusable tillI get this one out.

I'm afraid the disc has slipped off the holder inside and has now migrated in to the innards - can't get any sign it is moving around in there. Also a disc inserted now pauses for a while and then ejects. I think I'm stuck with it.
the optical drive is a enclosed casing it's not a free spinning tray so a disc can't get far
it also make a difference if it's a normal sized disc or a mini optical
in these forums there are 100s of old posts about both physically getting out discs and less intrusive ways
not to mention how to get SD card out of the drive
