fix sound on 2017 27 inch retina iMac

I have a 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display that had sound problems after I installed Boom 2 from the Apple App store. I wiped the drive and installed High Sierra which did not solve my sound problem. I use iTunes with Crossfade yet the sound varies from song to song, even those that I have purchased from Apples iTunes store.

There is no sound during startup, so I can't reset the PRAM is the SMC. Seems strange that I could on my old iMac.

Can anyone help?
