iPhone 5 needs restore every time battery dies

Hi, my iPhone 5 needs a restore every time the battery goes completely dead and the phone shuts down. If I don't let it go dead and keep it charged its okay. If it drains to nothing then DFU mode and a restore is the only thing that gets it going again. Can anyone help ? thanks.

Hi ajp757,

You've mentioned that you need to restore your iPhone by putting it into recovery mode every time it completely loses power. I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.

What happens that causes you to need to restore your iPhone? When an iPhone drains its battery completely, it's not uncommon for it to take some time to get enough charge to respond again. Check out the information in the article below:

If your device still won't turn on or start up

Plug in your device and let it charge for up to one hour.

After a few minutes, you should see the charging screen.

If you don't see the charging screen within an hour, or you see the connect to power screen, check the jack, USB cable, and power adapter. Make sure that everything is plugged in firmly, free of debris, and not damaged. You might want to try a different USB cable or power adapter.

If your device still doesn't turn on, see what to do next.

If this is not the case, let us know exactly what happens when the battery drains.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!

I get the connect to power and then subsequently the charging screen and I've tried several chargers and cables both Apple OEM and aftermarket with no difference. The charging screen will go indefinitely and never boot up. Only solution has to put it in DFU mode and restore it. I've seen some people have had success by heating the phone with a hair dryer while in the charge screen and it boots for them but I haven't tried this yet.
