powerpoint 2017 presenter view

Cannot get right settings so that presenter view shows on my laptop and slide show appears on projector screen. I unchecked Mirror Display. The Display window shows the large screen with the small screen next to it, but still the presenter view shows on the projector screen. If I click swap displays, then only the slide show now appears on the screen and the laptop. The projector is an Epson Powerlite 1776W.

Couldn't find a specific category for this question so hope someone in this community can either help or steer me in the right direction.
