Is there a way to import a wide table from pages to numbers so that it fits the page in landscape (rest of the document in portrait) and the text looks ok in the columns?

So I'm trying to import a table from Numbers to Pages but I've had some difficulties. The table is very wide (A-U) so even in landscape format it doesn't really fit the page, or it does but the text in the columns suffers. This is for my bachelor thesis so it's quite important for me to get it right. So far I've tried adding it as is, which didn't work at all, converting the table to pdf and adding at as a picture, which didn't work because the pdf is several pages and I only get the first one imported. Lastly I tried doing a new table in Pages and copy-pasting the table from Numbers. This worked the best but the text in the columns is all haywire sense I can't find how you'd make the table wider (already made the page margins narrower). Has anyone got any tips?

The Table size is in the Arrange menu of the sidebar because it is an object.

Sounds like you need to edit font and cell sizes to fit as well. Click on the top left dot that pops up when you click on the table, to select the whole table, then apply Fonts, font sizes, etc and adjust the cell sizes and text indents in the cells in the Sidebar inspectors.

I'd suggest using a more condensed font to help fit the text without having to reduce the type size excessively.
