Question: How to get an Update.

I am an OS X user (Not sure which version...Maybe EL Captian.) and when I go to the app store and try to update it says Its fully updated, but it says its only on 10.11.6 "theres no updates available"when I try to. And I'd like to update to 10.12.6 but it won't let me.

Going from 10.11.6 El Capitan to 10.12.6 Sierra is called an upgrade. The updates section of the App Store doesn't necessarily show upgrades.

Sierra is still available for download, read this, How to download macOS Sierra - Apple Support

The version of Sierra that will be downloaded is 10.12.6

Check to make sure your applications are compatible.

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.

Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.
