my photos say "986 items have not been uploaded to icloud " how do i upload them

when i open my pics they say 986 ITEMS NOT UPLOADED TO ICLOUD how do i upload them

Is your device plugged in and connected to WiFi? Depending on the size of your library, it will take a while to upload.
