Universal Clipboard Doesn't Always Work

I have a MacBook Air, an iPhone 8, and an iPad Air 2 and use them all often. One feature that is nice is the Universal Clipboard, where I can copy something from my iPhone and paste on my MacBook Air. It doesn't seem to always work though.

If I am on the same network with my Phone and MacBook for example, and go to copy, it may not work. Restarting the MacBook Air often fixes it, but after a period it stops working again. Curious if anyone else had this issue?

I am not interested in hard resetting either, as setting up a MacBook or an iPhone entirely from scratch is a huge undertaking, as is simply resetting from a backup. I have seen that solution suggested and think if that is truly what is needed to fix something like this, that's a problem.

I had seen that post. It leaves you with the same options I mentioned including a hard reset of devices, which actually I have done before simply because it had not been done in a while. That option is cumbersom and takes forever because of what I explained - I am a heavy Apple user and have a lot stored on the cloud and through apps so it takes forever to do a hard reset. It does temporarily fix on a restart, but I guess I am asking if anyone knows why this happens and if there is something that can be fixed. Or in the very least if this has happened to anyone else besides me.

Thanks.
