How long should the default version of Apple/SysPref/icloud take to load?

In effectively dealing with an scam of an iCloud popup which would not

close and kept returning I followed this procedure:

Trashed these items:

-the caches folder at: ~/Library/folder

-the iCloud folder in the ~ /Library/ApplicationsSupport/folder

and

- the MobileMeAccounts.plist in the ~/Library/Preferences/folder

then I Restarted the computer (which I understand

puts back, with default settings, the items trashed.)

However now, when I click the Apple/SysPref/icloud

the panel reads "iCloud loading..." but even after 14 seconds

(much longer than any of the other 'undisturbed from procedures'

icons to open) there is no entry and if the cursor is moved the

icon the spinning wheel is happening and I have to force-quit

Preferences to get out and stop the beach balling.

The SysPref panel reads 'iCloud loading..." -- how long do you think

it should take? Is it reloading the default version of the system

preferences options panel for iCloud (or did that happen automatically

when I restarted the computer after the procedure describe above?) From

what I have described, what do you think is happening to this computer?

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Memory4GB1600MHz,Processor1.3GHz

Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Quit System Preferences.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.

Restart the computer, open the application, and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

It is in Photos /Help/ System Photo Library Overview panel and reads:

"Warning: To avoid accidentally deleting or corrupting a Photos library,

do not alter the contents of a library in the Finder."

Is moving the .plist folder as you are suggesting, 'altering

the contents of a library in the Finder'? I don't know if that is what this

Help warning is referring to.

Late last year you offered a very effective method of removing a pop-up

panel that included putting these library folders in the trash and restarting:

~/Library/folder, the caches folder

~/Library/Applications support/folder, the iCloud folder

~/Library/Preference/folder, the MobileMeAccounts.plist

Now that popup was extremely annoying and I am truly grateful to have

gotten rid of it with this procedure, but since then I can not load iCloud in

Apple System Preferences, and wonder if it is related to the "Warning"

I am sharing in this message? I am sure you would like to be aware

of it, if it is the case, and I would like to understand from your level of

experience how you see it, so that I can understand what might have

occurred -or if my reasoning is faulty.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
