My Apple Watch has stopped pinging my phone.

I couldn’t find my phone so I tried to use my watch to ping it. This is one of my favorite features. Its to working. It looks like its pinging from the watch but my phone does nothing and makes no noise. I have shut everything off and checked volume and re-paired the watch to the phone. Nothung seems to help. Please help if you know how.
