2017 MacBook Pro does not work for Dell Monitor?

Newest MacBook not displaying to Dell Monitor??? I've now spent thousands of dollars, about 8 hours, and 5 adapters. I still can not get my brand new macbook pro to display to my Dell monitor. I'm using Apple's brand name USB-C to HDMI adapter. Dell monitor cable is HDMI (computer) to DisplayPort (Monitor). I see from forums that many are having this problem. We want answers!
