Apple doesn't specifically guarantee it will stay water resistant, but in general I wouldn't worry about a little bit of saliva spraying on the speaker. The biggest concern with liquid intrusion is getting past the main seal.

Splash, water, and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. Do not attempt to charge a wet iPhone; refer to the user guide for cleaning and drying instructions. Liquid damage not covered under warranty.

Why are you taking this so personally? Apple doesn't guarantee water resistance once it leaves the factory, which is the context that your post lacked. It's right there:
Splash, water, and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear.
What phone are you using?
