I was going through the same thing. They said that I would get an email from their battery team in 3-5 days, then I would get an email from the store once it was in stock and being held 2-5 weeks after that.

Sure it's taking that long. Part of the issue is that it doesn't even require battery health below any particular threshold before they'll do it. That, the publicity, and the price meant that they have to go their battery suppliers to get more. This is a pretty normal lead time to produce batteries. It was just that before there wasn't really much demand and they put in small orders.
