Activation Lock

I bought an Iphone 6s off of craigslist and the previous owner did not take their lock of it. So now there is an activation lock on it and I can't get intouch with the previous owner to sign in and remove it. Is there any other way to get around this?

Activation Lock I recently purchased an IPhone XR and I went to set it up and it has an activation lock on it from the previous owner. No; it’s an anti-theft measure. If desired, ask Craigslist for a refund.
