How to stop desktop file icons from iCloud overloading me MacBook air desktop. They are jumbled over each other.

How do I stop desktop file icons from piling up on each other on my MacBook air? They are from my desktop but their is not enough room for them on the air.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Why can't I keep icons on a different desktop? I have just finished browsing every possible answer on organizing desktop icons on a Mac. Some of the answers were outrageous, so stop answering if you don't have a proper solution. So I need to move my icons around my desktops using Mission Control. Unfortunately, if I switch Spaces, icons are coming along. As far as I can understand, this is the default behavior. Is there a way I can have a CLEAN space / desktop where I could create other files/icons? If that's not possible, the existence of Spaces is flawed. You either have another desktop, either you don't. One desktop is one desktop, not the same desktop with some app opened.

iCloud icons After upgrading to macOS Catalina many of my icons in my documents folder have change from a folder icon to a page icon. My documents are stored on iCloud. None of the folders stored on the hard drive have this problem. It just affects about 20% of all the folders on iCloud documents. Example I have getting info. I can past the correct folder icon in the info of the ones with the wrong folder icon but this seems like a bad idea. Even though the icons look like pages they still work like folders.

icons spread out when moving from finder to desktop So, for my job I combine a lot of files into one singular file. The easiest way for me to do this is to click and drag the files from finder and then I move them to the desktop. When I click and drag the icons to the desktop they spread out into no concernable pattern and its just random and weird. However, if I drag the files back to finder and then back to the desktop they stay in a nice, neat orderly horizontal line. How can I change it so it NEVER spreads them out randomly and they always just show as an orderly line? Not sure who would even want that feature. 🥴
