because that would be awesome. It would be nice if apple didn't try to do all of the thinking for its customers.

Right, it would be cool if this policy could be changed. It is my understanding that this is not a technology issue so much as a decision apple is making for parents (and people who mistakenly enter the wrong age).
It is a legal issue. When you created the account, you agreed in writing the birthdate was correct.

If your child is already shown as under 13, the birthdate can't be changed.
can you change the policy so parents can edit the age of their child?
