Carplay Issues

Having two issues with Carplay

1. Music volume does not adjust (goes down) during Apple Maps audio prompts.

2. The Maps disappear on the Carplay and I am stuck with only the Car Location on a blank screen.

Also is it possible to use any other Map app other than the default Apple Maps? In the past, Apple Maps has forgotten the destination with the result that I need to pull over on the shoulder and re-enter the destination.

The first issue is fixable by going to settings>Maps>driving and navigation - set to low volume it will not stop music. If you set it to normal or loud it will adjust the music volume.

As for the second issue, It may be a car issue. If you do not need to see the map, any map app will do. I would hope you are not looking at the map while driving.
