My computer keeps freezing

I have a late 2008 MacBook currently installed with 6 GB of RAM. My computer keeps freezing up and I have "payae8moon9.com" adware how can I fix both?

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), 13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008
