How to move or nudge group of clips to new location?

Now that I got to try this on my mac, I can confirm that dragging and nudging are both working just fine.

Looking back at your screenshot, I think I see what the problem is.

You have selected the clips inside each secondary storyline. You need to select the storylines themselves, not the clips. Click the grey "shelves" to select.

Compare how the storyline with titles is selected, vs. your where the titles themselves are selected.

No idea why it is not working for you.

What Tom and I described is pretty standard (actually not just in FCP X, but for mac applications in general, this is the behavior of command-click).

And once of you have a selection made, click and drag affects whatever is selected. What exactly happens to you when:

1) Click on a shelf to select a storyline, then command-click on another shelf

2) Click and drag on a selected item when more than one thing is selected?

Maybe you could do a short screen recording and post it so we better understand what you are trying and why it is failing.

I fail to see why dragging wouldn’t work.

The keyboard shortcuts for nudge should work too (they are the comma and the period if I remember correctly - not at my mac at the moment).

They’re secondary storylines. You don’t want to nudge the clips but the storylines. Select the shelves of the storylines.

Cmd-click. Or search in the index for storyline if the layout is long or complex.
