How can I check that my phone is original?

One comes in the box? I've never heard of that and my unlocked iPhone 7 was purchased directly at an Apple Store. I have been given one (oval with a stem) at a cellular service provider.

That's different. Might be some sort of local/national regulation, like EU phones coming with a Lightning to micro-B adapter.

The lack of a SIM card removal tool is NOT an indication of it being original. Apple does not include the tool in all iPhone packages.

But then again a paper clip works too.

Now that's something I didn't know about.
