Trying to Restore Mac

I was trying to restore my late 2012 Mac to factory settings, when I googled this it said to do so in Disk Utility after you startup...

I clicked restore mac, then I went to reinstall Mac OS Sierra, but it gets stuck on the loading screen. It will say "6 minutes remaining" but no changes at all. Stuck like this for over an hour, so I did a hard shut down.

Any advice is helpful.

You will need to use Internet Recovery to restore your Mac to factory settings - meaning the most current OS that shipped with your Mac. Your 2012 did not come with Sierra.

Internet Recovery key combos are:

If you installed 10.12.4 or above, you need to use Shift+Command+Option+R.

If you have not installed 10.12.4 or above, you need to use Command+Option+R.
