Thank you so much for being so honest , I just realized that the Appel pencil I have I can just through out because you can not buy new battery and it has been out of use for a year. I will for sure try an other pen, thank you .

1 it will not recognize my memory card from my camera , it did before.

2 it will not recognize my Appel Pencil

3 the pencil is , after charging, expressing it is only 3% full, I have only used it 4 times, it is new.

Have you ever let the Apple Pencil’s battery discharge completely and leave it discharged for more than 3-4 days?

If you have, the battery in your Apple Pencil is dead and the Pencil is dead.

Because of the “always ON and active” nature of the Apple Pencil, the Pencil needs to be constantly charged up, even when not using it.

You can't let the Apple Pencil drain completely down to O% charge and leave it that way for 3-4 days or more.

The Li-ion battery will be dead when this happens.

Here's a much better, 2nd alternative smart, Bluetooth stylus I recommend rather than the Apple Pencil

First, I own a 1st gen 12.9 iPad Pro.

I absolutely HATE the Apple Pencil.

I think it is just a poorly designed and made afterthough stylus accessory for the iPad Pro.

If you do not mind losing the whole side shading thing, as well as a reduced set of compatible apps, the Adonit Pixel/Pixel Pro is a wonderful alternative, smart Bluetooth stylus for the iPad Pro.

I use an Adonit Pixel/Pixel Pro stylus on my iPad Pro for the last two years or so on my iPad Pro.

Works wonderfully for me.

The Adonit Pixel Pro, is, exclusively to use with iPad Pro models.

Has shortcut buttons.

Has a nice fine, textured pen tip AND a nice rubber grip.

Magnetically charges, has auto 15 minute shutdown feature and fully charges in a hour.

Has a 30 day standby mode before needing to be charged, if not using the stylus. (you keep the stylus charged up once a month when not in use).

I find it only lasts for 16-18 hours on a charge, but Adonit claims up to 24 hours of continuous use on a single charge cycle.

Made of very high quality aluminum materials.

Works with about a dozen of the major/popular drawing/sketching/painting apps (the Pixel/Pixel Pro works with, but currently not “officially” supported with Procreate, but it still works and works pretty well in Procreate ), and about a half dozen of the popular note taking apps, a half dozen writing apps and about a half dozen PDF style/compatible apps.

Here’s my list of Adonit Pixel/Pixel Pro compatible apps for the iPad Pro.

ArtRage

AutoDesk SketchBook

Medibang Paint

Interactive SketchBook

Inkist

Colored Pencils

Concepts

ProCreate

Pixelmator (used to support Adonit, I have an older version that did, not sure about their latest version)

Tayasui Sketches/Sketches Pro

Notability

GoodNotes

Notes Shelf

Notes Plus

Notes Writer

QN X Pro

PDF Expert

Foxit PDF

If interested, to make sure you get the latest installed firmware, order one of these directly from the Adonit website.

Good Luck to You!

No one from an Apple Store will tell you that unless you specifcallly knew to ask a question about the Li-ion rechargeable battery and what you need to do with it when using your Apple Pencil.

The Li-ion battery in an Apple is a small cell located near the top of the Pencil, just below the Lightning connector, and doesn’t ever really keep a charge for any appreciable time.

So, the Pencil will always need charging because of how small and how fast this small battery discharges and won't last being completely discharged for more than 4 days or more.
