My iPad is locked on the apple screen

When I restart my iPad the Apple Screen appears and is locked there. I've tried holding down both the top shutdown button and bottom center button and succeed in restarting the iPad, but it again locks up on the Apple screen. Connecting to iTunes on my computer via the cable, iTunes asks for the passcode to unlock the iPad, but the iPad never gets to the screen where the passcode can be entered.

Any ideas???

Try restoring using recovery mode. Bear in mind that this may erase the iPad. If you have a backup, you will be able to restore the backup in order to recover your data and settings.
