Imported photos library won't play videos

I have a photos library from a previous MacBook backed up on an external hard drive. When I load the old library into the photos app I can see all of the pictures and the thumbnails of the videos, but none of the videos will play. How do I get access to my videos? Are they gone?

Photos Library incomplete in iMovie There are a bunch of Videos and a couple of Albums that don't show in iMovie that are there in Photos. I have to drag the Album to the Desktop and then import then from the Desktop into iMovie. iphoto imported my videos as images when I moved them to a folder So I was trying to do a backup of my pictures in iPhoto into an USB, I copied and then pasted all my pictures and videos into a folder on my desktop. I deleted all my pictures from iPhoto and now that I was looking for a video on the folder that is on my desktop, all the videos were converted to images. Can someone tell what happen? Can I fix this and make those pictures into videos again? I have the MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.2 Please HELP!

Viewing backed up Photos libraries without importing all to new Mac Photos app I have two large Photos libraries stored on an external hard drive. To now view these libraries, do I have to import them onto my new Macbook Air (which there is not enough memory for), or is there a way to simply view the photos from the external backup drive without updating my library? I held Options while opening Photos, selected to view my backed up library from my external drive, and the Photos app now shows "Updating Library... 5% complete" and is moving very slowly. Please help if you know of a better way! Thank you.
