Computer not properly restarted

I interrupted a computer update by closing the lid. Now it won't start up properly. What do I do?

MacBook Pro, iOS 11.2.6

What happens when you try to restart? How far in the restart cycle does the computer get? More information would help.

If necessary, boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart). Run Disk Utility and select First Aid. Then re-install the OS.
