How do I retrieve my notes which were lost after an update?

Go to Settings>iCloud and make sure notes are turned on. Also try going to Settings>Accounts & Passwords, and click on your email account, and make sure Notes are on. If neither of these options work, consider restoring your phone to factory settings and then restore your last backup.
