Photos import problem

I have an iPhone 5S. I'm trying to trader my photos onto my iMac using Apple Photos. I've connected it correctly and it's visible in iTunes (syncing fine) and appears in Photos with the options "Import Selected and Import All" greyed out.

Any help would be appreciated

Why isn’t my iPhone importing my photos to my iMac? I’ve recently come back from traveling so have many photos I need to upload. Can't import photos from iPhone 12 Pro to MacBook Air I have been searching this question, but can only find work-arounds and not solutions. When I connect my iPhone 12 Pro to my MacBook Air to import photos, all I see is the prompt 'preparing to import.' But nothing happens. I have read that others have this problem, but don't see a real solution. I updated my software, but that has not solved the problem. The article with a possible solution is marked 'archived and no longer available.' Apple needs to solve this.

Are your photos synced to iCloud using iCloudPhotoLibrary?

Thanks. iCloud is set up but I know longer want to store them there. I'd prefer to manually sync them to my Mac.
