starbucks imessage app error payment not completed

I've used the starbucks app in imessage before but now I'm getting a "payment not completed - add/update debit/credit card payment" error message but don't know why as nothing has changed. Is there a setting that I'm missing?

iPhone 7, iOS 11.2.6
