Can't display 1080p anymore when using an external screen

Hello everyone, I've been using a Macbook Pro 15" (mid 2014, 256GB, 16 GB RAM, 2,2ghz i7, High Sierra 10.13.3) to watch youtube videos on my TV (with an HDMI cable) for a while now.

This always worked fine, until recently. I always had it set to 1080p/60fps in the screen scaling settings, but now whenever I pick scaling I get to see this

User uploaded file(translation: Bigger text / standard / more space)

This is instead of the list with resolutions that I'd usually get. The problem with this is, that whatever I pick, the resolution will always be 4k/30fps (2014 macbook pro's can't display 4k 60fps), so I can't watch 60fps videos on my TV anymore.

Does anyone know how to change the settings to 1080p/60fps, without me having to buy extra cables (like a mini display adapter or an at this point extinct 1080p HDMI cable)?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)
