Music app crashing

Since I updated my iPhone (7+) to iOS 11.2.6 my Music app will not launch, every time I open it it immediately crashes. I have trawled the internet for a solution but the best anyone can come up with is backing up and restoring but that brings me to my second issue.

This is what I have tried to fix the music app crashing issue:

  1. Hard restart on the phone
  2. Closing apps
  3. Resetting network settings
  4. Power off/on

None of these have worked

The second issue is that I cannot get my phone to backup to iCloud or my Mac. When I try to backup to iCloud it just says it has failed when I plug into my Mac it says: "iPhone could not be synced because the connection to the iPhone was reset".

In an attempt to fix this issue I have tried the following:

  1. Restart Mac
  2. Re-install iTunes
  3. Delete old backups
  4. Setup new user on my Mac and plugging into that version of iTunes
  5. Changing lightning cable
  6. Changing USB ports
  7. Switching to sync over wi-fi

(Mac specs: MacOS High Sierra 10.13.3, iTunes 12.7.3.46)

Nothing works and I am starting to get angry, I pay for Apple Music but currently I am not able to use it on my phone (which is where I use it primarily). I suspect one suggested solution will be to take it to an Apple Store but my nearest store is a 90 mile round trip (which of course would be without music!).

I have somehow managed to resolve this issue, for anyone that may have a similar problem this is what I did:

  1. Reset all settings
  2. Restarted iPhone & Mac
  3. Discovered you can delete the Music app, deleted it
  4. Powered down iPhone for 10 minutes
  5. Powered up and reinstalled Music app from App store
  6. Tested music app and it is now working
  7. Plugged into iTunes and backup worked

Problem solved, I am not sure what fixed it exactly but I am not complaining.

I think you need to go to settings>general>reset>erase all content and settings. If you are using iCloud and are signed into it everything you have saved to it will update after you sign into it after setting up your phone as new. As far as the apps, you can go to the app store and view purchased app/not on the device and get all the apps you had.
