Apple care purchase

hi there, I have recently bought a MacBook Pro and need to purchase Apple Care, I was told upon purchase that I would receive 10% off the purchase of the MacBook to then be told that with AppleCare I would receive a further discount as I'm a student, as I'm trying to purchase it on the same day as I bought the MacBook I couldn't find the button to get the student discount
